Senior Associate/Associate Partner (Lease Advisory)

The Team & Focus of the Role

Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate/Associate Partner (Lease Advisory) to join their growing Commercial Transactional team. Based at their office in Birmingham, the successful candidate will act independently, providing expert advice in areas such as rent reviews, lease renewals, dispute resolution, and lease regears.
This role demands a proactive individual who seeks to create new opportunities while nurturing and expanding existing business relationships. There is also an opportunity for team leadership, making experience in team development advantageous.
This full-time position follows a hybrid working policy and is based at the Birmingham office.

Duties will include:

  • Providing excellent client service to a broad range of clients

  • Demonstrating a strong track record in:

    • Rent reviews

    • Lease renewals

    • Lease regears

    • Dispute resolution

    • Lease advice in sale and leaseback transactions

    • Rental valuations

    • Third-party referrals, including submissions to Independent Experts and Arbitrators

  • Proactively developing business and creating new opportunities

  • Building and nurturing business relationships with private and corporate clients, and professional contacts

  • Attending networking events

  • Staying informed on issues affecting commercial landlord and tenant matters

  • Handling tenders and fee proposals for new business

  • Demonstrating market knowledge and case law expertise

  • Acting independently and working within the Commercial Lease Advisory and related service line teams

  • Assisting in building the regional Commercial Lease Advisory team

  • Supporting staff by allocating and prioritizing their work, and monitoring progress and performance

  • Deploying resources to meet operational demands and cost-effectiveness

  • Mentoring and supervising graduates

  • Assisting in budget setting and achieving personal and team targets

  • Managing financial tools to oversee fee income forecasts and work in progress

  • Complying with professional, firm-wide, and service line processes and procedures

  • Managing a Landlord and Tenant caseload across various commercial properties, including industrial, retail, and offices

  • Producing and delivering timely reports on commercial property

  • Monitoring team service objectives and standards, resolving issues, providing support, and recommending actions to ensure efficient customer service delivery

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in Commercial Lease Advisory services

  • MRICS / FRICS qualification

  • Ability to manage, develop, and motivate team members

  • A full driving license

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • High awareness and concern for customer service requirements

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines within specific agreed fees

  • Negotiation skills at all levels

  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • A positive, solution-oriented attitude

  • Motivation and drive to succeed
